It Is Raining, AGAIN, in Arizona!
It is the most amazing thing that it is raining, again, in Arizona. We have had 1.6 inches of rain since last night. Rain this time of year is great for the wildflower season this spring. From what I understand, we have had the prerequisite rain and cool nights at the right times to increase seed sprouting for a pretty good display of wildflowers.
The day has been mostly good for sleeping and doing a few things indoors. Far too wet to go outside except for runs to the garage to get things.
The dogs have enjoyed sleeping the day away because outside is wet!
But the birds don't seem to mind at all. Today we had an Albert's Towhee come visit. In fact, a pair of them have been visiting the feeders. I learned that this towhee is in a very narrow range and has people come from all over the world just to see it. Birders that is. The female cardinal was waiting rather impatiently for the towhee to depart.

I couldn't imagine cleaning that much mud off all those Giants. Probably better if they just sleep on those days!
I could sit and watch birds for hours. The Cardinals and Finches are some of my favorite ones.

Christine,
We actually have a soil with lots of gravel in it making it a pain to grow anything but wonderful on rainy days. The dogs' feet were wet, but not muddy for the most part. There are many gravel pits around us because of all the gravel in the soil. So the desert dirt does have some advantages. ;-)) I am afaid I do spend to much time watching the birds. I love the little hummers, the cardinals, and the Gambel's quail.
