Queenie Does Shopping

Our little Miss So Perfect  Queenie has been going into the pantry.  We were mystified for awhile as to the reason.  But all was answered this morning.  She has been scoping out the pantry for food!  She is very food driven and I guess this morning she felt as if the portions fir her breakfast  were too small!  Tom and I were BOTH in the kitchen which the little missie must walk through to get to the living room.  She did walk through the kitchen and we both failed to notice that she was carrying an almost empty can of Pringles.   We stood in there talking until all of a sudden!  There was a loud POP from the living room.  I turned to see the cause of the noise, and Queenie was looking at me with the most amazed expression on her face.  The can of Pringles that was still dangling from her mouth minus the lid that she had just popped off scared her!  Her eyes were wide open!  She knew she was caught as she gracefully left the Pringles can on the couch and went to her safe place....under my computer.

I was so amazed that she had walked past us and neither had noticed her trophy prize.  Now we ask her what she is shopping for when she goes into the pantry.  All the edibles have now been moved to higher ground and Miss Queenie is left to shop among the less edible items that are on the shelves.

It Is Raining, AGAIN, in Arizona!

It is the most amazing thing that it is raining, again, in Arizona.  We have had 1.6 inches of rain since last night.  Rain this time of year is great for the wildflower season this spring.  From what I understand, we have had the prerequisite rain and cool nights at the right times to increase seed sprouting for a pretty good display of wildflowers.

The day has been mostly good for sleeping and doing a few things indoors.  Far too wet to go outside except for runs to the garage to get things.

The dogs have enjoyed sleeping the day away because outside is wet!

But the birds don't seem to mind at all.  Today we had an Albert's Towhee come visit. In fact, a pair of them have been visiting the feeders.  I learned  that this towhee is in a very narrow range and has people come from all over the world just to see it.  Birders that is.  The female cardinal was waiting rather impatiently for the towhee to depart.

Montage of Life

These last few weeks have been busy ones and I don't know where the time went to.  I have had this crud in my chest that I have been fighting for weeks and finally lost my voice, so I had to go to the doctor and get antibiotics.  Tom has had biopsies, all of which were negative, so that was a great relieft.  The dogs, well, the dogs are the dogs.  Queenie is coming along in learning commands.  One command she didn't have to be taught was to be Queen of the pack.  The first couple of days she and Schultz had peeing contests peeing one after the other to see who was going to be the Head Dog so to speak.  Guess they have worked it out and little Miss Queenie seems to have won that game.  She is little but she is mighty.  She is most often in the lead of all the dogs to the gate to tell someone that they are too close to her house.  The others come racing after her trying to see what she is giving Heck to.  Queenie had to check out the Christmas tree since she had never seen one before.

This was as she was considering to go wild in the house.

Somehow I got her in midstride of doing rips and rolling in the blanket on the couch.

Sometimes she curls up wth the other dogs to sleep or pose.

Notice a pattern here?  Queenie always seems to get "her" spot.

But wouldn't want you to think they are all always good.  When Hank is good, BUT when he is bad, he is very bad.  Mr. Sh*t, as Hank is sometimes known, made the most awful mess this evening.  We were outside planting some new trees and didn't want the dogs out as were using mulched manure, one of their favorite things to roll in.  So I had told him to stay in the house and he went out of the house.  I returned him to the house and to the big crate in the kitchen.  Mr. Hank was NOT a happy camper.  He proceeded to take the water bucket off the side of the crate and dump it up side down and then stomped in it and sprayed it all around the kitchen or as far as he could make it go.  He is by far the most ornery of the giants that we have.  But most of the time he is a clown who makes us laugh, so his indiscretions are quickly forgiven.
